The charging/handsfree connector has gone bad once again, I had to get it repaired once from your service center and with-in a month it's not working again.
Is there a manufacturing defect, a design problem, or quality of connectors is bad?
Pls. understand that it is very painful to submit the phone for 7-8 days, as no standby is provided by your service center. Staying without the data and specially phonebook causes a lot of inconvenience, not to mention trips to your service centers and numerous follow-ups.
Last time when I submitted phone, it was returned with opening marks on the rim, I didn't buy a handset, which starts looking ugly without any fault of mine.
i had this same problem. when i got my phone back to repair, i started removing the charger port as the manual suggest, by lifting upwards instead of pulling it out straight as i had been doing. i have had no problems since, but i am sure it will eventually break as well. this is a defect in my opinion, i have never had a problem like this with any phone i have ever owned. it is a stupid design, and they should stop using their proprietary SE charging port and convert to MICRO USB standard. i will never buy sony ericsson again!
This is the third time I have submitted my phone for repair for the same problem i.e. charging port, here’s the details of all the workorders –

I had to go through a lot of hassle while submitting the phone at your service outlet (Mobilephone India) at MG Road Gurgaon, they refused to accept the pone and said that it has been tempered (the connector has been soldered and fixed with super-glue on the circuit-board), despite my repeated requests that this phone has been repaired only by Sony-Ericsson, they said they will not take the phone. I then called-up the customer-care center @ 0124-39011111, (Ticket #88850058) where I was advised that I should submit the phone to the same service center where it was submitted the last time (which sounded ridiculous, as both are Sony service outlets) however I went to Lajpat Ngr service center (Techno Care) and submitted the phone, which they checked and accepted, in about 45 minutes I got a call from Techno-Care that I should take my phone back because the charging-connector is not the standard connector. I gave them the reference of two previous workorders under which the phone was repaired by them, the person then said he will check & call me back in some time, and till now no one has called-up.
The chrome-rim on the sides of handset has been damaged and the shell has marks because of repeated opening by your technicians, I have highlighted this problem when the phone was returned to me the 2nd time by posting a message on Jul 2, 2010 7:19 AM at your support-forum, here’s the link - http://talk.sonyericsson.com/thread/1991;jsessionid=1BD749562321E2B39FC175DDDA5AD62E.node0
I use this phone for official purpose, everytime I submit I have to do without the phone directory, the format is proprietary which means I can’t transfer the numbers on other handset, can’t access the corporate emails on the move & it has to be re-configured everytime, all the personal URLs and passwords have to re-entered everytime, The locations saved on googlemaps gets lost, trips to your service stations, calls to your supportcenters and merciless holds. Writing emails!!!
I bought the handset from Sonyericsson considering your reputation of a manufacturer of quality, technically advanced and aesthetically beautiful handsets, but not only your handset has developed problems within months, you have also failed in rectifying the fault. Also in the process you have butchered the aesthetics, hence I don’t wish to accept the defected handset, please either refund me the entire sum I have spent on buying or issue me a fresh-sealed replacement.
Thanks & regards
Rajeshwar
you will be surprised to know that the Sonyericsson service personals advise not to follow the prescribed removal in the manual, they recommend that it should be pulled out straight, despite being extremely gentle with the connector, it is going bad, you are right its designed poorly
