So i have rcently been having some trouble with my SD card on my Xperia Play. I noticed it a few months ago where for no reason at all my phone would start telling me that my SD card had unmounted when i hadn't done it.
However, this time, my phone has told me that my SD is now safe to remove and when i take it out and re-insert it, it still tells me the same thing. So i emailed SE to see if they could help and all they offered me was an email saying, Have you upgraded to the latest software (which i have) so i checked a few forums and all i can find is people telling me to make sure that the back case is on or the phone wont recognise the SD card for security mesres. Which i also do, i knew this in the beginning because it says it in the manual.
I am completley stuck. I have put the SD card in my girlfriends phone and it tells me that the SD card is corrupt, but i don't undersand how. I havent taken it out without dismounting it and i haven't droppped or inserted a new SD card into it without turning the mobile phone off. I know its not the SD card slot because my girlfriends SD card worked fine on mine.
I have also tried formatting the card but it doesn't do anything, i have also tried resetting the phone after re-inserting the card but nothing works. I don't wan't to fork out money on a new one if i can fix this one but also, i'll lose all the data for the games that came free with my phone as they are built onto the SD card i think.
If anyone could help me solve this issue i would appreciate it.
Is this the SD Card that came with the phone?
Also is the back cover completely locked into the device as there are 2 white pressure triggers next to the sd card that detects when the cover is off or slightly ajar and automatically unmounts the sd card for removal.
If it isn't the above i would suggest returning the sd card under warranty and the supplier should be able to replace it.
Yeah this is the same SD that came with the phone (16gb) so you can see why i'm a bit miffed at it breaking.
When you say take it back to the supplier, do you mean the place i got my phone? As it is a contract that i got from a store. Or should i send it to SE?
If you have proof of purchase you can take it to either.
If you take it to the place you you bought it from they will have to send it to a SE services center anyway.
I read this topic and see you gave no reply to the following question asked by subculture:
Is the back cover completely locked into the device?
There are 2 white pressure triggers next to the sd card that detects when the cover is off or slightly ajar.
It automatically unmounts the sd card for removal.
Are you sure this is not the problem?
Hey, Sorry for the late reply...
I recentley moved so no internet connection for a while lol. Anyways, i just wanted to say thanks to Subculture as i took the phone to the original place of purchase and they just sorted my memory card out there and then so i now have the problem fixed. For some reason the memory card corrupted itself, there was no explanation, the manager told me that there had been a few problems with SE latest memory cards, where a certain batch of them just killed themselves off after a few weeks.
I'm just glad it's sorted now
Thanks again.
No problem mate!
Thanks for taking your time to come back and give us an update. Glad you weren't given the run around and it was a stress free experience
Slightly jelous because the phones in my region only came with 8GB micro sd so I had to purchase a bigger capacity card.
So easy to fill up memory these days
Yeah i guess liviing in the UK can sometimes have it's benefits
The manager in the store i purchased the phone is a regular in the store i work in lol, so he was happy to take the time to help me out quickly. Before i moved, i took it to a store and they offered to ship it off for 2 weeks and i thought "y'know what? I'd rather just wait a while"
When i came back home, i took it to him and he sorted it within 5 seconds so i was very relieved lol! I didn't want to be without my phone, its too cool! Even without a memory card i was still able to get some great usage out of it.
It's a shame that they change the phone so much for specific regions, i think it's unfair on SE consumers.
oh thats pretty sweet.
I watched an unboxing vid by a German user and he got a standard charger/ car charger/leather pouch/16gb sd/2x screen protectors....
When I saw that I was ready to burn something to the ground. I got the phone.. charger.. 8gb micro sd.... suppose i can't complain because the phone was free but man I was >_<</p>
I got mine on a 24 month contract and it comes with 16gb memory card, car charger, headphones and pc adapter. I bought a case from Amazon.co.uk but it was terrible. I had it 2 weeks and the case started to crack, plus i found that it just helped keep dust and things trapped underneath which then smudged my phones polished black shell lol!
My screen protector is starting to die so i think i need go get a new one! Its only because i downloaded Inotia 3 and it has no Xperia Play controls 😐
The only thing i wish they would do is add some more decent games to the ps suite more frequently, or at least try and work out some way of data transferring things from PSN to the phone.
