I'm sorry to hear that.
Are you experiencing the same behaviour if you test the microphone in Diagnostics as @uliwooly suggested? Should this test fail my guess is that this is related to hardware rather than software, there are however a few more things to try in order to try and rule that out.
First of all, if your phone is in a cover, case or something similar, try removing this to rule out the cover blocking the microphone being the cause behind this.
The above leads to my next question, was there any change if you rebooted your phone to safe mode? If not, my next recommendation would be to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. Unfortunately this will reset your phone, make sure to create a backup before performing the repair. You can create a backup either directly in the phone (under Settings > Backup & restore) or by using the Backup function in Xperia Companion.
