Numerous problems with x10 mini pro

I have had my x10 mini pro for nearly a year now and its safe to say that this has put me off Sony Ericsson phones for life.

The reason for my purchase was due to my experiences with the w880i and k750i both very good, reliable phones at the time. The problems with my x10 all seem to be down to Sony and not the network company. My question is was there any recalls? as the problems i suffer seem to be common.

1. The stated standby time is in the region of up to 285hrs...in my experience this translates into up to 15hrs (with wifi, bluetooth ect off).

2. The phone can have full signal 1 minute and then nothing the next when it has not even moved location, switching the phone off and then back on generally solves this. Also it can show its has signal but when a call is attempted (either in or out) it beeps and ends it straight away.

3. The charger often goes unrecognized.

Please not these are my common,day-to-day problems, it also suffers from occasionally freezing and touchscreen recognition.

1. Standby time is never the same as the time you get when using the phone. Standby is when not using the phone at all (not even lighting up the display).

Depending on how much you use the phone it can differ from a few hours to a day or two.

2. How old is your SIM card?

Unstable/bad network signal can sometimes be caused by an old or defect SIM card.

3. Are you using the charger and battery that came with the phone?

Have you ever updated your phone's software? What software are you running now? Check this at Settings > About phone > Build number.

hi there thanks for your reply, the standby time i stated is without using the phone and sitting it in a location with signal. when i use the phone i use the phone as normal i get about 6/7 hrs out of it and if i play a game on it i will be lucky to get 2 hrs.
The sim card is the same age as the phone (approx 1 year) and so visually is in perfect condition. i will try and get my hands on another sim card to see if it makes a difference.

and yes it is the original charger and battery.

the software has been updated to 2.1-update1

build number 2.0.A.0.504

Thanks Rob

Thanks for the new info.

6/7 hours during 'normal' use sounds a bit low.

I always charge my phone (ray) over the night and it's usually around 10-15% when I go to bed in the evening. I'm a heavy user (calls, messaging, browsing, listening to music, playing games etc.).

One year is not that old. It might be that it's defect in some way but it's most likely not related to it's age.

I just had a quick check and I see that the latest software version for X10 mini pro is 2.1.1.A.0.6. It might however be that it's not available on all markets. Try to connect the phone to your PC and start PC Companion. It will tell you if there's new software available or if it's already up to date.

Even if it's up to date it would be a good idea to repair the software (Support Zone > Start > Repair).

I'm sorry to reply to this after years, but people search the internet and some knowledge that someone have, might be usefull to the others. I have x10 mini and i had exactly these problems. More specific:

1, about the standby time, i understand that these numbers are when the phone is it's exactly "standby state", but there are useless, as it uses an A amount of battery on standby, while in average use this amount is A*15. More specific this phone has 15-25 hours standby average, AND NOT 15 days. And of course, with wifi disabled, bluetooth disabled, gps disabled and cpu always on low use. Never mind, it's mini, it has small battery, i accept it.

2 the signal problem, mine have the same problem. I replace the sim card (i pay 5 euro for nothing) and it wasn't the sim. I swap phones with a friends x10 mini and it was ok. So some x10 minis have signal problem. Lost calls, dropped calls, 5 euro for nothing, hours searching the internet for solution lost. Just simple like that. (of course i tried all the solutions you mention above, update, repair etc)

3 sometimes (rare) a bug in the firmware (i use the latest. 2.1.1.a.0.6) caused the (genuine) charger to not be recognized. With a reboot it's ok.

I'm i random user that i see this guys problems and realize that i have the same. Also i saw in my friend's mobiles these similar problems. You are a xperia support. Either you have not idea for what we talk about or you pretending. You don't help people with this, while IT'S YOUR JOB to help them. Some problems are obvious, don't act like it's user's fault and enough with the excuses (non-genuine charger, faulty sim, outdated firmware, aliens etc).
