No Sound on XA (intermittent)

Hi Guys,

i bought a Xperia XA from Amazon Marketplace, Condition New (I doubt that a bit, phone looks new though) Model is F3111.

After powering up and installing the latest updates, i noticed that the sound (every sound) was missing. After restarting, everything was fine, sound was there and very good. But after a couple of hours, it was gone again (every sound), so i restarted again, and the sound came back to life. Whats wrong?

And i noticed something odd at the diagnostics. At the "application not responding" it says "System-UI"

Coincidence?

Welcome to the community.

If you're getting the error "System UI not responding" then I would recommend you re-install the firmware on your phone. You can do this by running a software repair using Xperia Companion.

The volume levels in my 'Sound and Notification' settings are all at maximum, yet when I receive a call, quite often the phone does not ring, but just vibrates.

Restarting the phone usually cures this, but I'd rather it didn't do it in the first place. I'm missing important calls!

When this happens, at the top of your device do you see a symbol that looks like , or ?

Thank you. If it does have any of those, your phone is set to Do Not Disturb mode, it is the most common cause for this. You can find more information about it here: http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/xperiaxa/userguide/Do-not-disturb-mode-settings/

If not, please let me know and we can try some other troubleshooting.

Right, it's just done it again, and none of those symbols are, or were, present.

Interesting, OK, can you please test your phone in safe mode next. This is to test if an app is causing the issue.

Hi, so, after a couple of days investigating this issue, i have done the following:

Gave every App every permission, didnt help.

Got a new sim card, didnt help.

As suggested, i repaired the phone using the companion software. After that, i only installed whatsapp, because i absolutly need that app for work. I hoped this would help, but didnt.

Additionally, the phone loses network connection a bit after it loses the sound. After a reboot everything is fine again, until 1-2 days of uptime. First the sound error, than the network error. I cant even log in manually, when i'am in the manual network menu. It displays all carriers fine, but it just says that "Login isnt possible right now"

I bought the phone over Amazon, so i'll send it back next week, reimbursement is already filed.

Like i stated, i doubt that the phone is new. For sure, this phone was destined for another area than mine, because at first startup, the language is something i cant even remotely read. Russian or Greek, something like that.

I bought another new XA (F3111) at a local store this time. Gonna pick it up this afternoon, i keep you updated.

So, hi there again.

The new phone works just fine, as expected. No more errors, sound is fine, network is fine.

Altough, i noticed a few things:

1. There is an "error" of some kind that both phones have. After plugging in a charger, the phones do not respond to the ON/OFF Button, when the screen is off. It takes around 30 secs for the screen to make a flash, then its fine again.

2. The "old" phone had some different preinstalled apps (like the battery life prediction app) and some other. My "new" phone does not have them, why is that?

3. In the german translation when an app is asking for permission, most sentences look like this:

Appxyisakingforpermission

There are no spaces between the words, which looks bad. Could this be fixed please?
