Micro SD not detected

My new microSD is not working on my Xperia L.

It is a SDHC Class 10 Samsung microSD card that works on both a computer and a nokia smartphone.

The phone says "no SD card detected".

Tried reformatting to FAT32 but no luck. A 6 year old 2Gb microSD card works fine but this new card wont work.

The microSD card is Samsung Plus SDHC Class10 16Gb.

Very disappointing.

I am sorry to Inform but it seems that Xperia L doesn't support Class 10 Memory Cards.. 😕 yeah..that sux !!

Lot of people reported the problem here : http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/130908?start=0&tstart=0

Surprisingly, not a single Sony support guy has responded in that thread.. I'd like a confirmation on this as well..

As of now, i think only Class2, 4 & 6 seems to be working with Xperia L. Slightly_frowning_Face

Is it possible that  support to class 10 cards be introduced with software update ?? or is it a hardware thing. ??

There is no official response from them so when we buy a new SD card we are doing it blind?

Never had a phone that was so "picky" (I mean total failure) for SD cards.

It is a simple SD card this is shameful.

Even my lower end Lumia 520 runs it nicely. I can even use Sony Media Go with my nokia phone?!!?

Yeah, it's not a trick, it's SONY! We've paid 4 the Phone, they got our money and let us know: we give a shit about your problems...

Having got my Xperia L 3 weeks ago I ordered 2x32 Samsung Micro SD cards class 10 (My wife has Xperia as well) and found the same problem as everyone else seems to have, Not working in phone but ok on PC and Tablet.

I then ordered 1x32 Micro SD class 10 unbranded from Ebay and had no trouble with that at all so I ordered a second one and all is going well, Hope this helps!!

From my xperience, it seems that Xperia L does not support Class 10 SD cards. I bought one (Verbatim) with my phone and could not transfer data onto it. Exchanged it for Class 4 (SanDisk) and that one works fine. Also tested with Class 4 from ADATA and that one worked fine as well.

Saludos,

Lukas

Its not true that the xperia L doesn't support class 10 sc card as I'm using one myself. Maybe you should try a sd card from a different manufacturer. Mine is from transcend and worked fromt´the very beginning. Here is what I use: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0077VDNYU/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Well you're lucky. Many of us are not.

People should not buy 10 different cards from 10 different vendors just to check which one works.

I had Class 10 card from A-Data and it did not work either. Funny though the same card worked in 2.5 year old HTC Incredible S without any problems.

Bought Class 4 card, they generaly work.

In that other thread i also saw person saying that 8GB Class 4 card did not worked in Xperia L.

So it is possible that problem is not related to Class 10 alone. Some people think it is related to SD card controller (faulty batch?) itself.

What worries me the most is absolute silence from Sony side on this matter. No requests for more information, nothing.
