Now that I have rooted my phone is it possible to install Flash Player?

Yes you can install it but it will not work unless you have 2.2 or higher, 2.1 does not run Flash player

So you are saying I can have flash player if I install a custom 2.2 app but I also read elsewhere that I will lose my video and tethering. Is that right?

yeah pretty much and your warranty (unless you flash it back to the original firmware)

the other option is to use "Skyfire" from the market to watch Flash videos, it doesn't always work but for the most part it does.

Currently 2,2 roms dont have fully working USB / WiFi Tethering or Camera video recording although I have seen some threads where 3rd part apps do support it

but I can't remeber what they were
