Hi there,
I have connected my W995 to my computer before and was successful in transferring media (music) between them.
But lately when I connect my W995 to my computer my cellphone gives me the following message:
PC Mode
for Windows
USB Mem. Device
File transfer
Other OS
E.g. Mac, Linux
MTP Devices
When I select option 2 for File Transfer my cellphone gives the following message:
"Cannot use phone functions in this Mode. Phone will be restarted"
I have taken my phone to my services provider but they gave me a number to call for technical support, but that support is only for internet support.
Did something go wrong with my cellphone's software?
And how will I be able to fix this?
Please help!
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/mobilephones/downloads/w995?cc=gb&lc=en First of all, try selecting PC mode instead of File transfer mode, because my own W995 doesn't require me to manually change USB mode when connected to the PC and can be simultaneously connected to PC suite/companion, MPE and Media Go without any manual mode change being necessary. If you still have problems, try updating/re-installing the phone's software with the SE update service and/or a phone repair via PC companion and see if that helps.
Hi there,
Thank you for answering my post.
I have tried everything you suggested, but my phone just does not want to connect to my PC.
In the past I was able to sync music to my phone from Windows Media Player hassle free, now Windows Media Player does not even show that a device has been connected. There is absolutely no indication that my PC is connecting with my phone & vice versa.
I'm thinking that maybe something went wrong with my phones software? Could that be the problem? Does it need to be sent away to technicians to fix?
I haven't had this kind of problem with my phone before and this is now my 3rd Sony Ericsson.
Do you perhaps have any other solutions?
Your help is much appreciated!
Have you tried a different USB port and/or a different USB cable?
Yes, I have.
I tried my old USB cable for my old phone the W850i.
I transferred music on Monday to my W850i hassle free, so the cable is not faulty.
I've tried the cable for the W850i and the cable for the W995, same problem everytime.
My W995 just does not want to connect
OK, try a Master reset and see if that fixes the problem.
You can also try rebooting your PC with the phone connected and failing that, restart the phone while it's connected to the PC.
Thank You SOOOOOO MUCH Dr Chris!!!
I restarted my phone while it was connected to my PC & it worked immediately!
Thanks a million!!
You are the BEST!
Have a GREAT DAY!
You're welcome!
