Elm restarting?

I've had my Elm for a week. Now my 4th SE phone so does that mean I'm addicted?! lol Winking_Face

Love the new phone BUT it keeps restarting at random. Mid-text. Mid-phonecall. Mid-sitting on the table. Whenever. Screen goes off, then 10-15 secs later you finally get the wallpaper etc back. Very frustrating! Easily happens 4-5 times a day.

Couple years ago I used to have a W910i which had the same problem. Eventually it was admitted that it was a 'known issue' after 2 replacements and numerous software updates.

I've already checked that I do have the latest software version on my phone. Was told by shop that the 14 day return policy is not available. Figured I'd ask the question here first, as if it IS a fault with the phone I will take it back.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you Slightly_smiling_Face

I don't think there is a problem with the Elms but to eleminate the prospect of there being a problem download and install Sony Ericsson Update Service and update the software. Remember to back up all your data as this will be erased during the update.

Thanks for the quick reply!

First thing I did was install PC Companion and run the update. It told me I had the latest software already installed. Anything else?

How about the repair option in pc companion? Also I meant to use Sony Ericsson Update Service instead of pc companion to update your phone.

What is the latest version of software available for my phone and I'll tell you if I've got it. It doesn't say on the SE website that it has to be run from the phone. Also, I'll be charged a fortune for running the update from my phone as my contract bundle doesn't include internet access.

I've had the phone less than a week, and to be honest I don't think I shouldn't have to be updating anything. I need to know if I have to return to the shop I got it.

Can you help?

UPDATE: I've checked (again!!) via PC and via the phone itself (found a WiFi spot), and both are telling me I have the latest software version. Is it a hardware or firmware fault?? Browsing through other discussions on this site, this is not the only phone with this problem....
