Elm Bluetooth car problem

I have a Sony Ericcson Elm and a Lexus Rx 400 car. I bought the phone as the car manufacturer recommended it as fully compatible. I hvae had a problem with the bluetooth connection between the two. Firstly, the connection keeps being dropped so it is impossible to use handsfree with the car. I have checked that the phone is set to always allow connection with the car and to be visible. The second problem i mass transfer of contacts, the ones on my car are now very outdated and the phone is supposed to allow mass tranfer by bluetooth to the car. I have found how to do this on both the car and the phone but again the signal keeps dropping.

I have seen on here that people have had trouble with the elm bluetooth also so wondered if there was any special settings that I need to use to make them connect. Also I have had a replacement phone from Vodafone in case it was a broken phone but this has the same problem, and the software is all up to date.

Thank You,

Jim

Have you tried to re-pair the phone with the car? Remove the pairing and then add it again and see if this makes any difference.

If that doesn't help you should try to repair the software with Update Service (despite already having the latest one).

Now, I cannot confirm that Elm will work with your car. If you check on page 9 in this document, http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/download/1/716/985/1288260791/Elm_WP_3.pdf, you can see which Bluetooth profiles that are supported. If you still cannot get the phone to fully work with the car's Bluetooth I suggest you show this list to Lexus and ask them to confirm that their Bluetooth software is compatible with this.
