Hi there, I just bought an UCH12 charger for my X Compact. It was supposed to deliver a 5.5-hour battery after only ten minutes of charging. In my case it charges about 1% a minute, so after ten minutes I get 10% which ist far behind my expectations. My phone was bought in Germany, build number is 34.1.A.3.22, Android 6.0.1. The cable I use is the UCB20 one that came with the boxed UCH20 charger. Enabling and disabling the battery care option didn't make a difference. What can I do to get full charging performance?
If you buy the UCH12W, then an USB-C cable should be included.
I am asking this because i want to know if you try charging with UCH12 with the included cable and / or the UCH20 one
and both cables failed to charge faster.
The support website
http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/quickchargeruch12w/userguide/About-the-USB-Charger/
suggests to charge using the UCB20 cable. The UCB20 came with my UCH20 charger along with the phone. I assume that the cable that is bundled with the UCH12W should also be an UCB20 cable.
Today I got some more cables:
- Anker PowerLine USB-C to USB 3.0 Cable (A8168)
- Anker USB-C to USB 3.0 Cable 1m /3.3ft (ANK-A7131-BK)
- Aukey USB C Kabel auf USB 3.0 0,9M USB Type C (CB-C10)
I tried those with the following QC 3.0 chargers:
- Sony UCH12
- Aukey PA-T9-DE-S
- Anker PowerPort+ AK-A2013311
NONE of the possible charger/cable combinations resulted in Quick Charge 3.0 charging speed. Maximum charging current is 2030mA either way. So either my Xperia X Compact is defective or Sony limited charging speed/current.
Hello again.
I spoke with the UK E-Store and Support the other day.
I'm deliberating on whether to send my replacement UCH12W charger back for a refund. They've given me that option; or have another replacement (!)
I notice they were selling it online with 30% off the past week for 'Black Friday Week' (as they call it here). The thought did cross my mind to send my replacemnt back for a refund and buy a new one at the discounted price. But why bother in the circumstances?! And in any case, it's back to it's original price again now.
Sony support have suggested I do a software repair of my XZ using the Xperia Companion app to resolve my issue.
They also confirmed that the phone should support Quick Charge 3.0 and that it didn't matter whether I had adaptive charging on or not. It wouldn't make a difference. They also said it wouldn't say "rapid charging" or "charging rapidly" on my XZ with the quick charger, just 'charging;' unlike it does when charging my Quick Charge 2.0 devices.
It's quite a big step for me to do a software repair on my phone because of it resetting so many things I use and rely on regularly so I'm not rushing into it.
Incidentally I thought I'd mention that the cables that come with the UCH12W are thicker and more robust to handle Quick Charge 3.0 than say the one that came with the phone or the previous Quick Charge 2.0 UCH10 charger. It shows you the details on the labels on the cables if you're interested.
Wishing everyone the best of luck to get this issue resolved properly.
Hi, Greets from Finland here.
I'm with Aukey PA-T16 charger QC3.0 and
Doesn't seem to charge any faster here either. Doesn't read rapid charging (just charging) and gives like 30 % battery increase in 30 mins.
Same charger gives rapid charging on my Z3 Compact Tablet with the chargers supplied MicroUSB cable.
Reading this thread makes me feel Sony is lying about QC 3.0 on Xperia X Compact. Very disappointed.
Android 7... No "QC"
Sony.. :///
