Cedar USB Connectivity

Well, the problem about the "invisible" widgets seem to have been sorted out (they aren't available thru my network I guess..:( ). However, a much greater issue is worrying me. The phone cannot be connected to the PC. I tried with two USB cables, one general and one SE. At the beginning, the phone was read by the PC and data was transferred. But later on the PC failed to recognize the phone, as PC Companion too was messed up after an effort to update it. Now PC Companion is functioning, but the phone is not recognized at all. I thought that the issue was with the generalized USB cable and purchased a SE cable which came with the charger. But still, the phone isn't recognized. However, it is charging. Can someone kindly look into this issue and give me the reason for this?(And come with a remedy?)

http://www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php Does the phone get recognised in USB Mass storage mode, as opposed to PC/Phone mode? You can try using a different USB port, cleaning the USB cable and fast port connector pins, restarting the phone while it's connected to the PC, or rebooting the PC while it's connected to the phone.Failing that, try running the SE update service on the phone (phone needs to be switched off for this) and/or a master reset. You can also try connecting to The My Phone Explorer application from the above link.

Thanks for the link Dr. Chris. However, the USB connectivity remains scary. Instead, I purchased a bluetooth dongle and started communicating with my PC (Win XP). Data can be transferred from PC to phone, but (unfortunately) NOT vice versa! This is frustrating, as I already have woes with the SNS widgets (they are not appearing at all), and my two USB cables also became worthless. Any solution?

Well, with regards to Bluetooth connectivity, try changing the type of BT service that you're using, i.e., File transfer, Object push and Serial port are the types of BT connection that you usually have and you should be able to change between them from the PC's BT main window. As for the widgets, some people have resolved this issue by a master reset.Hope this helps.
