Cannot perform backup

Cannot perform backup

Every time I try to backup my Sony Xperia S from PC companion, the process halts when it search information about the file system, as it says. It never comes further. After a considerable long time ( i guess at least 20 - 30 minutes) it says that backup is not completed. I has not been working for half a year now. I noticed in the forums that there are alternative ways to backup the phone, but I want the main program to work! What can I do?

The phone runs Android 4.0.4

I have tried once to reset the phone to factory settings, and once to uninstall and reinstall PC Companion, but no success.

Try doing the backup one category at the time to see if there is some category that cause this problem. Like begin with only contacts and if it fails try only SMS. Perhaps you can find the category causing the issue and troubleshoot this from there.

Thank you Johan.

I now have tested single backups of Contacts, Bookmarks, SMS respectively. None of them worked so I gave up there.

I forgot in first messaga to say that i have also tried different USB-connections to PC, also without success.

Thank you uliwooly, I have skimmed over that page and it seems quite complicated. I guess i have to do it this way for now, but something is wrong with my phone, and im not really happy until it is solved.

I use superbackup to USB stick via OTG cable and it works without any problems plus you can select which backups or restores to do individually Slightly_smiling_Face

I suppose its the App Super Backup you are suggesting. If it is what i seen it seems easy to use. Still I need to figure out if i should send phone back, cause I still have guarantee, I need to find out whats the problem with it.
