Bluetooth Peripheral Device - Windows not finding?

Hello, Ive just bought a Sony Ar and using my mobile phone operators 3g network and want to access the internet using my mobile.

Using a Sony Vaio s Series on windows 7. t Mobile is the operator.

Previously I have run my Satio using the bluetooth network with little effort and this seems to stay connected for some time.

The problem seems to be with the Bluetooth Peripheral Device not being found or recognised by windows.

There seems to be many people with the same problem but im probably looking for the easiest solution or advice.

Im surprised also that by using the USB lead supplied that you cannot make a direct connection with the phone to use as a internet connection. Even via PC suite it does not connect to the internet.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Keith

what are you trying to do share files or tether your arc's internet connection?

settings -> sony ericsson -> connectivity -> Tethering & portable hotspot -> port. wi-fi hotspot settings -> configure wifi hotspot (change the name or add password) -> save -> check portable wi-fi hotspot

if you want to use your USB cable or bluetooth to tether use

PDANet

Hello

I am trying to use my mobile phones internet connection to access the internet using my laptop. In the past ive linked the two together by Bluetooth, but im experiecing problems with the Bluetooth Periperal Device.

Generally although it seems a long process and can send files and pictures via bluetooth from the Arc to my laptop, but I want to use the Mobiles internet service on my laptop.

Thank you

The best thing to do then is to use PDANet

if you have 2.3.2 you could root your phone using gingerbrake then install barnacle

but PDANet should do the trick just fine

Well, ive been (fast) reading the user guide and came across the 'Tethering' option that was mentioned earlier.

First trails are showing that I can use my phones 3g to access the internet on my laptop whilst on the road. Its not an ideal setup and seems to take sometime, but im going to try it again and hoping it works a little quicker when I know im not at home and on the road where it cannot find another wifi connection.

Will see how this works, but its all looking good. No need for Bluetooth Periperhals, but im sure in time a device will probably become available on windows.

With the information I have gathered so far, I can advise that a Rogers branded Arc handset seems to be branded in such a way that only a Rogers SIM card would allow native tethering In any manner.

Even though the handset is unlocked I do not believe you will be able to achieve native tethering with the current branding.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
