block a caller

Not impressed with either sony or vodaphone or whoever has sold my mobile number to 3mobile. I have started getting calls from them on a daily basis, at any time of the day. I didn't recognise the number so I looked it up and found lots of unhappy people talking about it. How can I block them from calling me, its getting very annoying.

I understand your frustration. There are a couple of apps that should be able to block callers (provided you have their numbers). Search Market with keyword 'block call'. However, you will be in the same spot if those annoying callers use another numbers! You will have to block those numbers again.
