Battery draining very quickly

Before accepting the latest software update last night, my battery on a typical day would go from fully charged to around 60-70 percent by the end of the day. I then downloaded and installed the latest software update last night and charged my phone overnight. This morning the battery has gone from fully charged to 49 percent in 3 hours. This is without any significant use of the phone (no calls, no texts). My job means I am unable to charge the phone during the day so without this being resolved, my phone is going to die on me by lunchtime. This is not acceptable and effectively renders my phone an expensive paperweight.

I have scanned the forums, tweeted SonyXperia GB and even contacted the BBC technology correspondent to see if he is aware of it. While it is clear that others are also having this problem, I have not been able to find any meaningful response as to what Sony are going to do about it.

I need to know: 1. Are we going to get a fix; 2. If so, when; and 3. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to mitigate the rapid draining of the battery.

Jelly Bean is power draining because of what Google did to Android. In order to challenge Apple for connectivity, they intro Google Now and this is a power guzzler. Whether Sony will be able to find a fix is everyone's guess since your battery capacity is limited. But if you want a decent battery life, try this: go to Settings > Accounts > Google and uncheck all auto sync. Also turn off Location. Stop Map in Apps > running. You should see your phone last longer. Google Now sync and resync everything everytime you on the phone. Tell us your experience.

Sony produces the hardware and try to fit it with Android software. May work better if you a clean install with SUS, than factory reset and clear internal memory. Painful but worth it. Not all are bad just somethings you may not need is draining your power.
