Apps installed but no icon on home screen ...

Checking out media players, I downloaded Zimly and Mixzing (thanks suze!) to compare. Both installed instantly but only Zimly appeared as an icon on the home screen. When I go  to Settings>Applications>Manage applications they are both listed as installed, however I need to have Mixzing drop its icon for me to be able to use it ... from reviews etc I actually think that's the one I'll be keeping anyway, a clear case of sod's Law that of the two that one would be the one with a problem!

I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice, same result.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks ....

That is very odd the icon shows in my app drawer on my X8 - granted I had to scroll to the left quite a few pages but there it was sitting on the last page and I have just added it as one of my corners just to see if I could.

The other solution is to add it as a widget, there are a couple of choices on my widget list for them.  Assume you are familiar with adding a widget to your home screens?  Menu>Arrange Widgets>Add Widget.

Let me know how you get on.

Hi suze ... and the oddness continues ... it doesn't appear on the list when going to add it as a widget ... Zimly does, however!

And MixZing is still leering at me from the installed apps list, hmph!!!!.

Hmmm.  In the interests of research, I just downloaded both Zimly and Mixzing on to my X8 (which I know is different from the X10 mini or mini pro) and both appear in my apps drawer and both are available to use as widgets - so the same result as Suze (and the same as on my big X10), and the result one would expect, indeed.  I assume you downloaded them both from the market in the usual way...? Is there anyone out there with the X10 mini who has downloaded - or can download - MixZing and tell us if it works on your phone...?  I wqonder if there might be some sort of compatability issue?

Yes both from the Market .. I have left a query now with MixZing support to see if they know about any incompatibility or whatever ..... watch this space!

Just the promised follow-up ....

It took a while to hear back from MixZing, but they then advised there's no conflict at all and a reinstall would probably resolve the issue.

I told them I had already uninstalled/reinstalled a further twice before contacting them, with exactly the same result.

They asked me to humour them lol and just do an uninstall/reinstall anyway, which I therefore did and of course it went in as sweet as anything with no problem whatsoever! Cue smug expression on MixZing Tech's face, lol.

So, MixZing runs fine on an x10 mini.

Oh man, why does that always happen!  Glad you got sorted but still can't figure out what the heck was going on in the first place. (Maybe they did a sneaky tweak after your email!?) Anyway, you now have your choice of player... which is what you wanted.
