Anyone know how to use a hotmail account as e-mail?

Only just got my X10 and I can't work out how to set up hotmail. I have tried it manually with the advised server name, port etc but it still won't work.

Try these settings:

Incoming Server Settings:

POP3 Server - pop3.live.com

Port - 995

Security Type - SSL (always)

Outgoing Server Settings:

SMTP Server - smtp.live.com

Port - 25

Security Type - None

That's what works for me.  I had trouble getting it to work at first as well, and found it was the Security Type setting in the Incoming Server Settings that was the problem.

Hi. To access my hotmail, I just turn the home screen left and type into google 'hotmail'. Click on the link and sign in and i can view and send emails from my hotmail account.

Huh?.... what I have done for my X10 is simply to get into the Email app in Menu, and set up a new account. Just fill in the 2 fields (email account and password) and the phone will do the rest. It will warn you about certain type of account... blah blah blah... just click okay and let it run pass that.

Yeah, that doesn't always work.  I did the same thing on my phone, but it wouldn't work until I set the Security Type under incoming settings to "SSL (always)".  Until I did that, I would always get the error message "Unable to connect to server" when I checked my mail.

No, I don't need to set the security type at all. Mine works as long as I put it on internet.
