Anybody solved anything?

Now, this is a bit of a rant and I am sure this will be on here already but I was wondering if anybody could shed some light on this for me as I really want to try and fixed a few of these issues

I had a Nokia N97, it was a brilliant phone with the 1 exception that the OS was faulty.

Now the reason it was a brilliant phone asside from the very responcive and durable duel touchscreen and button combo was that all my emails were updated to my phone instantly , if i read them on my phone or on my pc they showed us as read on both. It was great for onine use so convenient and played all websites like it would on a pc, the battery lasted me all day even though I would be online constantly at work and text a great deal all day. It then had access to all the apps you would want at teh click of the buton.

So whenit got old and I moved to an area where my signal wasnt as good I sold my phone for £130 even though it was about 15-18 months old and got a new contract.

The women in the shop suggested the x10 when i said i want something like the n97 but without the software glitches, it cost me more per month but I thought no shame paying for quality. I have had the phone for 5 months and so far I have noticed:

The screen is very unresponcive, a few keys mainly L does not work all the time,

the screen is unclear and shows fingerprints from 1 touch

emails are not updated instantly they're is considerable lag, the emails stll show as outstanding even if read on the pc and the system is very glitchy, sometimes it wont update and sometimes you have 1000 non emails taking up the screen.

the phone is very quiet and is unaudiable unless right next to it, even then I cant hear it in my pocket

the vibration is unnoticable as well.

apps do not always work on it, especially if they use the camera,

even though it is a "3g" phone there is no forward facing camera which was a huge disapointment. (of course it does have a camera which wouldnt let me take a picture of a scenic location as the mountain wasnt smiling! but then took a picture of a motorbike even though I hadnt asked it to, I have fixed this problem now though I cant find the flash)

the battery lasts about6 hours tops off the charge

but the worst of al is taht it has no flash player!

How can a phone even advertise its internet credencials if it has no flash player? It is one of the most used things on the internet! and as a result I cant watch tv, including the news even if its important for work, I cant use websites which have flash information such as stock charts.

So I considered selling it, after all it is newish I should be able to get a good price no? well no its so bad I can get £50 for it and that was a price I was quoted 2 months ago, lord only knows what I could get now.

Has anyone managed to solve ANY of these problems? for the first time ever I took out a longer contract, I had no intention of doing so but stupidly when I said no longer than 18 months I signed the contract before realising they did put me on a 24 month plan anyway. and there is no way I am spending extra cash on buying another phone.

All I can suggest is reading the manual

Turn off face recognition on the camera and set it to normal or landscape mode

If the screen protector is getting greasy marks on it then change it for a different one - yes, your phone does have a screen protector fitted.

Is the phone quiet? Mine isn't but I did need to work out that holding the speaker next to my ear worked a lot better than resting it on the screen

I have several camera apps, a bar code scanner - all of them work perfectly.

As for the front facing camera - surely you saw that before you bought it? Same for the flash player - it's been pretty common knowledge that Flash was not supported by Android. If Flash was that important to you then surely you would have done just a little bit of research. It's hardly SE's fault if you don't read teh spec sheet is it?

My battery life is more than 6 hours unless I'm using the GPS non stop for the whole time - if I'm in the car, then I plug it in to charge it. if I'm out for the whole day away from a charging point then I put a spare battery in my pocket - they cost a couple of quid off eBay. These days, I am seldom away from a place I can charge my phone for more than 24 hours.

Seems you have a problem with reading the small print - as well as not reading the manual, the phone's spec sheet you also managed to sign a 24 month contract when you wanted an 18 month one.

My guess is that nobody here will be able to resolve any of these issues or help you because you don't take time to help yourself Slightly_smiling_Face

you are pretty right I think, I need a working phone and when I couldnt get a signal on my own phone after I moved I had to buy another phone straight away, no time to research as norma and gordon brown got rid of the consumer protection rights.

I didnt think phones existed without 3g camera's (not a major issue) or flash player. I havent had  phone that didnt have 3g or flash player since my phone was in colour.

As for stats, phones do not say flash enabled on the stats as its usually a given. my N97 didn't and yet I spent most days watching bbc Iplayer and that was an android phone too.

However big thing of help is you said you have a app with a barcode scanner on it, I will presume thats the google app? That is one of the many apps that does not work on my phone. That suggests that there may be an issue on my handset.

I regret buying the phone and decided to go buy a new one when decide which phone to get keeping to the rule of buying samsung or nokia

I'm not sure how you ar manageingto blame Gordon Brown for you buying the wrong phone on the wrong contract - are you spotting a comon link here? Nothing is ever your fault

Last time I checked the Nokia N97 was a Simbian phone (hence Flash working) not an Android one - but hey, there's me reading the stats before I buy something.

If you need TV on your Xperia then beeb player works as does catch up TV (the latter giving you loads of channels). The youtube app gives you aaccess to (funnily enough) youtube and for the most part Flash is often just an excuse for sloppy web design and style over content. The iPad manages quite well without it Slightly_smiling_Face

The Barcode scanner I have is called Barcode Scanner v3.4, I also used Scanlife but got sick of the ads. The Google scanner wasn't that good so I ditched it.

Rather than just buying Samsung or Nokia, why not just go and read which phone matches your needs rather than just getting one that looks pretty and believing everything the sales person tells you.
