The update may be rolled out by the end of this month. Keep in touch with the forum to know the latest development in SE. There is no other source other than the softwares made available by SE (SEUS and PC Companion) that can assist you to make your phone run on Android 2.1 unless you root the phone. Rooting the phone will invalidate your warranty.
thank u very much for the info...i'll keep in touch in this forum...definitely getting xperia x8.......hope it will come sooner...and one more thing is rooting considered to be illegal?...
Rooting phone is not illegal. Problem is that rooting the phone will invalidate the warranty and if not properly done may cause irrecoverable problems.
What ROOTING exactly means
Accessing the root of your phone and give you full control. If you mess anything up, well, you will be sorry then
Yes, indeed. I am rather cautious and would certainly not advise anyone to root their phone just to get the update a week or two earlier. In fact, I can't think of any reason I'd do it to my phone, unless it was absolutely guaranteed that to do so wouldn't cause any problems now or in the future.
If there was a way to load custom roms into xperia phones you wouldn't get the updates 1 or 2 weeks earlier... Eclair was release in October last year (2009), so you would get the update about an year earlier... I just hope that Froyo comes right away and that gingerbread won't take long either...
so u mean 2.1 is already available?....2.1 is eclair right and 2.2 is froyo?...am i right...correct me plz im new to this....T_T
2.1 (Eclair) is available from google since last year (october 2009).
Most updated phones now are using 2.2 (Froyo)
As far as I know, we are weeks away from launch of 2.3 (Gingerbread)
But, if SE will continue with the louzy updates, we will only receive 2.2 next year... And if we do...
