Hi,
Obviously really new around here, got my x10 the other day and just have a few questions about it or mainly the coming update.
Right first off does anyone know yet the actual date?
How do we know its coming at all (just simply who said it and when)?
What will be featured in the coming update?
Most importantly, will multitouch be in this update?
Also, any great apps i should pick up, specifically for the x10 to add to it or and any in general.
Any answers would be very much appreciated.
Sony Ericsson have officially confirmed that the update to Android 2.1 operating shystem will be by the end of this month. No precise date yet, but watch this space...
Sony Ericsson have also confirmed that there will NOT be multi-touch, because the hardware is unable to support it. I haven't seen anything official about what it WILL include, though others might well have a better idea.
Do you want apps for anything specific, or just ideas on what others have found useful?
No multi touch..... thus making it far below the grade of many phones?
Just any apps you have enjoyed or found use full. Any idea what will come with 2.1 because the lack of multi touch i think may have just killed the phone for me
I have no idea why you're so interested in multi-touch, when the real use for it so far is a pinch-zoom. And please don't tell me about soon-to-be apps that uses multi-touch. I can't see a good use of it in gaming and much less in productivity. So far, even the iPhone has little use for multi-touch.
Sorry if I "sound' rude, I mean no agression or insult.
The update is slated for Week 38. That is announced. As to which day in the week, I have no idea.
Games, hell at the moment there all essentially unplayable without multitouch.
I dont quite know where your getting the the 'iphone has little use for it' as i have the ipod touch an its constantly used, thus why i noticed it straight away, 😞 if it generally doesn't get it the phone is straight away obsolete, which really dissapoints me. It does make me wonder why i keep buying sony phones, they always seem to be just behind the times.
I have to agree that SE is behind the trend, but why is multi-touch so.... important? Games can hardly qualify as important.
Sorry, but I have never bought a phone to play games on. If i need that a PSP-Phone would be nice, or a PSP for that matter, would be better.
Multi touch would of been great on this phone and would of made it a good iphone contender.. those who say you don't need it and it serves no use are just being "me me me me" orientated as many have a use for the gestures it provides access to, i for one would of liked to play a bit of mario kart on the phone to relive my youth but i am not gonna go and buy a psp or whatever else there is just to do that to only then have to carry another device around with me.. it is handy on google maps/earth and or any gps map web page browsing picture editing etc etc.. it is the future for touch screens!! if it wasn't every single tech manufacturer and os designer would not be putting so much effort into it.. just for example look at microsofts surface table
(for those who think it an apple thing) with something silly like 10 point multitouch (maybe more no need to troll and correct)
9 times out of 10 these multi touch haters are apple haters and use it as a subversive way of having a dig at apple
As I ave said before, games hardly qualify as an important aspect of a phone device.
Navigation... may be. I've a built-in GPS, which works much faster and more flexibly than any GPS Nav I've ever come across. That said, this is just me. For some reason I'm very good at visualizing maps.
As for gesturing, it is a coming feature in most touch device. However, do remember that gestures does not necessarily require multi-touch to work. It existed before MT tech came to be.
No, I don't have the "me, me, me" mentality. I've the "let's not waste any more resource on fad" mentality.
However, I do agree that SE need to keep its promise, as X10 was always announced as a MT device. Failure to produce this is a major no-no to customers. A company's word is very important.
