Search in messages / conversation

I am having trouble with me search engine not finding messages. When I search they only give me very very recent or not at all. Have a hit a setting wrong. It was working find on my old xperia but not on my new Xa2

could you elaborate? are you certain that you haven't deleted those older messages?
