I have a very annoying issue on my Sony Xperia Xa, and the drop down menu keeps disrupting all my operations.I did a virus scan but keep in mind this started happening when I did the Sony updates, before that things were fine. These updates have screwed up my phone at least they seem to have. What can I do, should I reset the phone entirely, would that help?
Hi @Helsinki57
Welcome to the community!
Before attempting any resets I would suggest testing the phone in safe mode, see if it happens then.
Let me know
I've already reset the phone a number of times, wiped import contacts and detail in the process, this phone has been nothing but a pain from the moment i got it.
Whats the point of the safe mode exercise, is that to assess if its the third party apps disrupting things?
It was directly after and during the download of the update that i starting seeing this disruption and corruption of the functionality of my phone.
Yes, always start troubleshooting by restarting your phone into safe mode, this will disable all installed 3rd party apps. If the problem is resolved then one of your installed apps is causing this issue and you have to figure out which one. Start by uninstalling those apps you installed recently.
Safe mode didn't change anything, its also started skipping youtube while I try and watch it, it will skip back a few seconds repeating whatever I ve just seen, and other menus flick up on my screen distrupting operation. I ve done a virus scan. Nothing has shown up. What now???
Now my phone is barely use able, every thing has gone haywire, its almost possesed.
This might be a "ghost touch" problem, where the screen has some defect and activates false touches randomly. You can try one last this: perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory. Don't forget to backup using Xperia Companion, but preferably without adding apps or settings to the backup.
And if that didn't help either, then you'll need to contact your Local support and get your phone inspected by a professional.
