Help to Lock in Portrait mode for Z4

I recently bought the z4 (lte) as the wireless wasn't available. Love the sleekness, 32 gb etc

I chatted with support as the tablet keeps going into landscape mode even when I am holding it upright. I have tried turning auto rotate off and then it locks into landscape mode. It will not allow me to lock into Portrait mode. 

chat person told me "The tablet's default position landscape, sadly you would not be able to lock it in portrait as standard I'm afraid " then said as it wasn't a bug there was no fix due for it. Has the rotate function become very sensitive as I did not have this problem at all on the Z2 running 5.02.

He then suggested there may be fix in the wild or a third party app.

Please help as I read a lot and this really "bugs" me as it keeps flipping to landscape.

Does it rotate while using the Dock?

Z4 doesn't come with a dock.

If the Z4 tablet it's like other Xperia Z series, it won't rotate unless it's using a dock.

Damm! Seems a bit odd, almost as if Sony do not like us reading on the tablet. I use comixology a lot as well as Kindle (though haven't noticed as much of a problem with them.

Any software patches out there or background apps

Try this app called "Set Orientation" from the play store, it works great for me on my z4.

I agree with you, and not just that, I would like it if ALL Xperias could rotate on the home screen.

+1 for Portrait Lock mode for Z4.

I've had my tablet for a week. Solution is definitely to download a 3rd party app. Easy to do, but shame on Sony for not getting something so basic right! (Which comes out of the box for much cheaper iPads)

So far I've used Set Orientation with success. It is free and straight to the point. Pretty useful in my opinion.
