XP Drivers for VGN-N31Z

I have a VGN-N31Z which is pre-installed with Vista, but I've also loaded XP, as I need to run a software demo in XP for work. Problem is, I need XP drivers and Sony have told me there aren't any for this model!

I was wondering if anyone knew a) if this is correct, and b) whether there are any third party drivers I could use.

All info gratefully received.

Hi papercase and welcome to Club Vaio.

No - there are no dedicated XP drivers for the N31-Series Vaios. However, many Club Members have found that using the Original Drivers Package for the VGN-N11 Series works OK.

The devices in your VGN-N31Z are the same as the devices in the VGN-N11S which was sold with XP Preinstalled. You can download the Packages from here: -

Don't forget to install the UAA Microsoft Hotfix KB835221 to get the soundcard recognised in XP.

ok,I downloaded the drivers, and most seem to be OK.

There are still a couple os issues.

1. In Device Manager 'PCI' has a warniong flag against it, but despite searching in all folders in the drivers package, nothing seems to work ro resolve it.

2. Although the wireless connection appears to have loaded OK, when I try to enter the network key for my wireless network it rejects it saying it needs either 5 or 13 asiic(?) characters, or 10 or 26 hexadecimals. Problem is my network key that came with the router, and which works for all other computers and laptops in the house, is 8 characters. Any ideas??!!

Also, can't find anywhere to download UAA Microsoft Hotfix KB835221.

All help gratefully received!

I seem to have sorted the PCI issue, and I've also found the hotfix so my soundcard is up and running.

Still have the issue with the wireless, but have since found that this is because I need to configure the connection as WPA-PSK rather than WEP. Can anyone help with this?

I have also started a new thread just on this issue:

Many thanks
