What is DWM.EXE?

Hello.Does anybody know what dwm.exe is and why it's using 50MB of Ram memory?

It is the Desktop Windows Manager and runs the 'Glass' Aero effects in Vista.

You could turn off Aero but this rather defeats what is probably the biggest advantage of having Vista installed!!

Keep the number of open screens to the minimum.

Thank you for the explanation.The thing is that i just bought a vaio fz19vn with windows vista business and when it starts up it's using 900MB RAM without anything else running.

I'm afraid that is just Vista!

About 45% RAM usage is not unusual but with 2048MB installed, you should be OK for RAM.
