Hi all... i have a big problem with my sony vaio vgn-tz11xn: i downgraded to xp from vista but now the webcam won't work. I phoned to sony and they told me that xp is not supported from them and i have to wait for a patch. There is not another solution for my problem? Thank you for your support.
Hi MacStyle and welcome to Club Vaio.
This seems to have become a fairly common problem. I don't know the answer but I would start with these two likely causes: -
1. Is your Camera installed correctly? The driver is the same for both Vista and for XP - so you need to reinstall the original Vista camera driver. To check if it is installed, go to Device Manager: -
Start -> Right-click My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager
Expand the section 'Imaging Devices' and see if a Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC? is shown as installed. If not you need to install the driver.
2. Have you got the XP Version of the 'VAIO Camera Utility' installed?
Go to C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Camera Utility and look in 'Version.txt'. It should be Version 1 - something like Ver 1.0.00.12270 - if you have Ver 2 then you have the Vista Version installed.
