VGN-NW11S: Repair after drop-damage

Hi All,

First posting :slight_smile:

My other half managed to drag her laptop off the table the other day by accident and the resulting fall smashed the screen and damaged the HDD. The screen has been replaced but the HDD is a write off.

I've bought a replacement drive from WD and I'm happy enough installing that.

My question is, where do I find all the stuff that is usually on the hidden partition, such as the Sony Recovery software and especially the Quick Web Access (QWA) software as we find this function really useful.

Once I've proved the machine is useable using Vista the plan is to upgrade to Win 7 which I am sure will bring it's own special issues!

Any help you can give with regards to bringing the machine back to it's original state w/o recovery disks would be more than welcome.

You can download essential drivers and utilities from the support site for your model here: -

http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/downloads/preinstalled/index.aspx?l=en_GB&m=VGN-NW11S_T

These will support the basic functions of the Vaio only.


Unfortunately, as you have not made a set of recovery discs, there will be some programs that can only be installed as part of the Sony Windows installation and if you want everything to work as before - and not have to purchase a retail version of Vista - you can purchase a set of Recovery Discs from Sony Support.
