Hi ,
I have a amazing XL202, but i am not fully satisfied of Mediacenter.
I got a Sony Vaio V2s too, and I would ike to install Vaio zone on my new Vaio.
i have installed on XL and Music, Video and CD/DVD play well but TV wont work.
Someone has any suggestion?
Could you help me?
I would like to use Vaio ZOne instead of MCE or Media portal, cause I need to record from an RCa connection that using the preinstalled software on XL do not seem to be possible.
Thanks
cheers
Alex
Hi Alex and welcome to Club Vaio.
Like you, I keep one of my Vaios (RC102) running Vaio Zone and XP because this machine is simply brilliant with analogue video and sound and will connect to almost anything analogue or digital.
Unfortunately, Media Centre software is entirely digitally driven and this AV connectivity has disappeared. Add to that the complexities of DRM and HDCP and we have been persuaded that we need something that no-one was asking for! That said, you should still be able to import analogue AV into your XL using Click2DVD. There is also other software available to capture analogue signals into a MCE PC.
As to your idea of putting Vaio Zone on your XL-series, I don't think it will help. The AV connectivity you seek is not down to Vaio Zone but to the Sony MPEG RealTime Encoder PCI Board which was fitted to the older Vaio Zone models. This is an 'analogue only' TV Tuner board with AV inputs. Vaio Zone is different to Media Centre - you cannot register any TV Tuner, it has to be the dedicated analogue Sony Tuner. This is no longer available.
Let's see what Vista SP1 brings in the Media Centre department - this is supposed to have been totally redesigned.
Thanks a lot for your fast reply.
I am really disappointed that Vaio Zone Tv tuner will not work on new Vaio.
Mediacenter on XP is really unuseful as software.
I am unable to adjust volume under this software when I am watching TV ( Mediaportal work well). I am unable to use both Analogue and Digital Tv tuner. So i have to use Mediaportla for DVB and MCE for Analogue!
I am surprised that Baio Zone does not recognize the new TV tuner hardware on XL-202.
Anyway I will hope to find a good compromise without installing VISTA that I don't like at moment.
Again TNX for your reply
