Hi all,
I bought a Vaio VGN-Z31MN and a Bravia KDL-40U4000.
I tried to connect them via an HDMI cable and it doesn't work.
If I open the nVidia GeForce 9300 M GS control panel it shows a "Sony TV" as I connect them but on the TV I see nothing.
In the systray the "Vaio Control Center" in the "Screen" settings, on the HDMI setup I can choose between few possibilities:
1080: "1920x1080" or "1768x992"
768: "1360x768"
720: "1280x720" or "1176x664"
A part from the fact that I don't really get what these settings mean, on the TV guide book it's written that if I connect a PC through HDMI, the TV supports:
VGA 640 × 480
SVGA 800 × 600
XGA 1024 × 768
WXGA 1280 × 768
WXGA 1280 × 768
SXGA 1280 × 1024
As you can see there's no match (unbelievable isn't it?), but I was wondering: shouldn't I see at least a compressed/wider image? Why do I see nothing at all?
How can I solve this issue?
Cheers
Marco
Hi Marco and welcome to Club Vaio.
There is a Sony Manual dedicated to connecting a Vaio to a Bravia by HDMI. It's too big for me to attach to this post (2.8MB) but if you PM me an email address, I will send it as a PDF.
Thank you very much!
I answered you via PM

Hi Blencogo,
thank you very much for the manual!
Unfortunately it doesn’t help: I get the problem at the very beginning. The TV simply doesn’t show the image through the HDMI connection.
Thank you anyway
Any other advice?
Cheers
