Hi,
I have inherited a Sony Vaio VGN-SR29XN and I need to make recovery CD's for it as the previous owner did not bother. However the Recovery centre program always crashes when you try to make the recovery CD's its normally when its about 25% of the way through the second CD, but it can be anywhere in the process. I have used the vaio update tool to update everything on this machine and it continues to crash every time. The crash itself appears as the little "Windows thinks this program has crashed" popup, even if I do nothing with this popup and try to let the program run until completion before Windows closes it, the application aborts before any more writing the the CD is done. I doubt its actually the hardware as I had the identical problem on a different machine, and I used a workarround that took days of my time to achive, I really dont want to do the same again.
I have also tried Sonys support website, but its as slow as a dead dog and when you click on the link to a page that looks like it might actually do something useful you get the following:
Network Error (tcp_error) |
A communication error occurred: "" |
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time. |
For assistance, contact your network support team. |
(Yes I have checked this is comming from the internet and is not an internal network problem).
Any advice would be appriciated.
