I'm trying to connect my vaio VGN-C1S using an s-video cable to my toshiba tv. I've managed to do it with my previous laptop, but this one doesn't recognise the tv.
Any ideas?
Tried switching both the tv and vaio off and then restarting with the cable attached, but it did the same. It recognised the TV for a few seconds when pressing Fn F7 but then went back to LCD only.
I have the same problem with my old TV (it should not happen with recent models).
I still have no real solution but you can try the following thing (if you have a S-VIDEO in on your laptop) :
1. connect the S-video out of the laptop to the S-Video in. Your VAIO should then detect a connection to a TV.
2. Unplug the S-Video in from your latop and plug it into the S-Video In of your TV.
It should work. But if you are as unlucky as me, it will work only until you try to change your video settings (resolution, brightness, ...). As soon as you will try to change these settings, your VAIO will switch to integrated LCD screen only.
I have tried the most recent Nvidia drivers with no success. Other solutions are :
1. Buy a more recent TV
2. There is a trick which worked for a lot of users : you must put a small cable between 2 pins of your S-Video plug. Try to find this trick on internet (I just found one discussion on http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=54362&page=3 but surely you can find other ones with the help of Google).
Hope this helps...
