Hello everyone - I purchased a sony vaio VPCF11MIE with a view to using it for video editing using premiere 9, laptop has NVIDIA 3 series graphics card and i think that's where my problem is but i don't know how to get over it. When i connect my camcorder i get message "incompatible adapter dirvier go to nvidia site and get updated driver" there is an updated driver on this site but according to Windows 7 i already have latest driver installed (its a different one to that on nvidia site) the camcorder is recognised and can be controlled but i don't get any video coming back to laptop. I have checked the firewire lead and camcorder by connecting to an older Sony laptop and everything works ok, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mick
I would try installing the up-to-date nVidia driver that comes preinstalled on the VPCF13M1E.
You can download it from here: -

I know the VPCF13M1E has the nVidia 425M GT graphics, but I would expect the driver to install OK. It looks like the new versions here are versions 258.87 for 32-bit and 259.03 for 64-bit.
Hi, Thanks for your reply which solved part of my problem. The error message did not show up, however i still could not capture any video.
Thanks mick
What format video are you trying to capture?
Is it live capture from the camera or recorded media?
Hello, I am trying to transfer recorded video from a panasonic mini dv camera (tape) onto pc for editin, tried set up again today on computer running xp all ok. My operating system Windows 7.
Hi All,
Changing the adapter driver helped and adobe error message stopped but i still could not capture using windows live film maker or adobe premiere, changed firewire driver to 1394 OHCI Host controller legacy, everything now works ok. Hope this info helps someone else. Special thanks to Blencogo for assistance.
