UPDATING VAIO PROBLEM

When I use the automatic update sometimes it suggests downloads and when I check the box and press the update button it simply does nothing and the update remains there waitng to be updated!! Why is this?

The current problem update is: INTEL SATA DRIVER 7.5.0.1017 for the Vaio VGN-AR31S.

Also does automatic update check all the updates that are manually available via the support-downloads tab or do I need to go through them all to check they have installed.

Im having problems and need to ensure that I have loaded all updates.

well I'm sorry i cant help you, only sympathise! i have recently bought AR31s and have exactly the same problem. I also have a bigger problem which i am tackling first which is the other update for WinDVD which i cant install.(see other thread) so i am interested in your solution!

This specific update seems to be in the wrong place, as it is not an automatic update. If you go to the support pages, updated drives etc. for your specific VAIO you will find the SATA update in the list and by clicking on download it shows you the instructions how to install.

In other words does Vaio update check against all the updates available to tell you whats installed and what isnt?

No you do not have to check the updates Sony Vaio Support downloads site..

Vaio Update 3 should list the same updates that can be found on the Sony Vaio Support downloads site..

Once you've installed the updates via vaio update 3, and as long as you don't remove any of the automatic or manual updates from your Vaio, then only new updates should appear..
