tz11: no drivers and utilities???

Hi all

I bought a new tz11xn/b. As I do always I now want to format it completly and set up again with my own software suite. With other Vaios I never had any problems doing so. All drivers and utilities could be downloaded simply over the support site attached to club vaio.
But if I search now for the tz11 I'm told that there are now preinstalled utilities or drivers available. What?? I pay 3800 swissfrancs (also in euro a damn lot of money) and I get neither a driver CD nor online support?? It's clear to me that Sony can't provide other additinal software due to licence but drivers and utilities should always be available.
Anyways, I searched for similar Notebooks (other tz11), but the result was the same. Ok, I started searching on my harddrive. There I found the drivers. I hope I'll be able to reinstall them by using the device manager. So far so good. The installers of the utilities couldn't be found at all. And there I can't just copy the folders... :slight_frown:
So, where to get these files?
I know that there is a backup partition. I use to delete that one too because I don't want to restore all the crap there. Now it still exists (Vaio seemed to backup at first startup). Can I extract drivers and utilities from there? Moreover I found ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/ on this forum. But I seem to be to dumb to find what I need in this jungle...
Last but not least I intended to try out the fingerprint reader. Vaio help tells me to start up protector suite ql. But once again this software can't be found on my notebook... Where is it?
So, that's it. I hope there is anybody able to help.

Hi illuminon.

If you are reinstalling Vista then I suggest you make a set of Recovery DVDs using the Vaio Recovery Utility and you can then browse the discs for any Utilities or Drivers you require. If you have the XN model, TCG Ver.1.2 compliant Trusted Platform Module (TPM)and Finger Print Recognition should be installed.

As you say, I would expect Sony to put the Original Utilities and the Original Drivers on the Download Site - hopefully soon?

If you are installing XP then you are going to have a problem - perhaps trying the XP Drivers and XP Utilities for the TX3 is your only chance.
