Does anybody know if Sony plans to update it's current offering of standard form factor desktop tower PC's? They did have the VGC-RC range bit that seems to have all but disappeared. All that is left is the all-in-one type PC and media centre PC both of which I do not like as they hold limited upgrade options, especially in the case of the all in one!
I do hope so as I think my existing VAIO is about to give up after about 5 years of constant use/abuse!
Hi duffdo,
As far as I know there are no plans to produce any new Tower desktop systems.
I'm not sure how upgradable the VGC-RM1N is!
Ha Ha. Speak of the devil. I think my graphics card is about to give up. My monitor keeps going into standby and switching off when I am in the middle of something. I tried another monitor and the exact same thing happens 😞
I think I will try a replacement card. Does anybody have any suggestions. My current Specs are:
VAIO -PCV-RX402
Which contans ASUS M/board - model A7N266VX (Socket A Mobo with Athlon 2200)
1024MB DDR 2100 (upgraded from original 256MB)
The grpahics card is the original nVida GeForce 4 MX460
Can I just purchase any old AGP card and shove it in?
Check with Google - I suspect you will be limited to AGP 4X cards.
Hi,
Yes, as Blencogo says, the desktop is now not part of Sony's range. They're more interested in the media centre, which is good, but not if you're wanting an office PC, yet want the VAIO brand.
I quite like the look of the XL301 (or whatever it's called now!) but it's really not an office PC.
I thought Sony were going into the business arena, but it looks like it's only the notebook section that is.
