Reversed touchpad movement

The movement on the touchpad on my Vaio has reversed, for no apparent reason. A USB mouse works normally. I've done a web search, and it seems to be a common problem on notebooks (and usually on Sony Vaios) but I've not managed to find a solution. Has anybody got any ideas what I should do to fix this?

Don't know if this will work but its worth a try:

In the system tray is a picture of the trackpad. Double click it and you get the mouse window.

On every tab look at the bottom and click on the DEFAULT button if there is one.

Click OK when its all done.
