Problem after re-install of xp

Hi All

I've just done a clean install of XP on my Vaio VGN-FS315B. I get the Vaio intro screen and the bit of music at the start when it re-boots as I did before. Then I get the usual XP screen to select a user, myself and my partner, as before. I can open xp for all the start menu's, in their basic form (the one with the All Programs, My Docs etc..) but cannot find anything for the pre-installed Vaio software.. esp the WLAN and other settings which I had before I did the wipe. Obviously I'm now running on the basic install but how can I get it back. I've looked everywhere for a disc which I think came with the Laptop when I purchaced it 2 yrs ago but...?
I've another desktop, fully functional with BBand so I can download onto M Stick or CD.

Please can someone help

Thanks in advance

Andy

Did you use a recovery disc or just a standard XP disc?

Some of the utilities are here .

That'll be the reason why these are all missing.

You have a recovery partition on your machine so to install it to your factory settings (ie with all the utilites and drivers) restart your VAIO and when you see the VAIO logo and press F10 several time until the recovery console comes up and follow the instructions.

Back up your data first.

F10 does nothing. Just goes to the main windows screen

Have you deleted the recovery partition with your fresh install?

If you have then to get all the preinstalled programs and some utilities you will have to buy some recovery discs. :slight_frown:

Just gone into 'disc management'
It says
Volume c Partition basic ntfs healthy Capacity 74.52gb free space 71.90

Does this mean I still have the partition there?

ps.. there is a vaoi folder there, when i open it i get another with the drivers-then when open it shows various fromaudio to wirelaess lan2 14 in total.

You should see a partition of about 7GB with no name.

That is the recovery partition but it doesn't sound promising.

When you installed XP again did you delete any partition on the partition setup screen?

sorry to be thick but did the install some months ago and cannot remember. Looks as tho I did.
In the computer management screen, theres a menu of system tools on the lhs then 2 screens on the rhs, the top one gives the volume c drive etc, and the one below says
disc0 basic 74.52gb online, then theres a split and it says .. cd-rom o dvd.
Looks like I'm screwd then?

How do I get the discs.. any idea please?
Thanks again for your patience and help
