No windows sound

I have a VAIO AR21S. In the last few days it has stopped making any sound (exceopt for the boot up sound).

I also notice that some video appears jerky - ie you tube and some advertising.

I have only recentl installed the windows updates and assume I have some drivers requiring update but I'm ot really sure

I have tries all of the troubleshooting stuff but to no avail.

Any ideas guys ????

Have you checked the sound settings to ensure that you have not muted the sound or turned the volume down by mistake..

Are there any conflicts or errors in Device Manager and also is your Sigmatel CXD9872AKD High Definition sound card listed correctly..?

It's ok now.

I reinstalled the original sound driver and i have sound again.I've no idea how it got overidden in the first place though.
