My optical drive is missing!

I have a vgn-nw 150j laptop that is now upgraded to win 7.

My optical drive is missing, the majority of the time.

If I restart the computer it sometimes recognizes the drive.

I have downloaded the registry patch and still having problems.

I have tried to download the intel sata upgrade from sony but I get an error message at the very end that says this downlaod may not have installed successfully.

Any suggestions.

Look in Device Manager -> DVD/CD-ROM Drives.

Is there a yellow ! warning against your optical drive and is there an error code?
