Irratic Touchpad

Both my wife and I have recently purchased the VGN C2 version and are both experiencing the same problem with the touchpad which makes us a little bit fed up. Very often when using the cursor up and down, the page we are looking at suddenly disappears and goes back to the previous page - sometimes back 2 pages. Therefore if we are in the middle of an email, at times the message just totally disappears which as you can guess is somewhat frustrating particularly as it is often irretrievable and has to be started again.
I notice this can happen on other websites but I can usually get it back by clicking on the forward button. This does not happen when I use a mouse; only the touchpad.
Anywone had this before and resolved it?
Thanks in advance
Russell

hmm, sounds annoying! I've had lots of little annoyances with touchpads in the past. Some of these ideas are a long shot but they're worth doing anyways!

To see if its a hardware or software fault boot into safe mode (hit F8 every 1/2 second after hitting the power button and selecting 'safe mode'. If the problem persists then you know you've got a faulty touchpad. If the problem goes away in safe mode then it's more likely a software problem:

* I had a similar problem where my touchpad would act unpreditably now and then, i fixed it by disabling 'Powermiser' via 'Nvidia Control Panel' which some nVidia graphic cards use.

* update all drivers via windows update

* check for spyware

Hi Russell and welcome to the forum.

I suggest that you try turning off the touchpad “Web Assistant”

Double click System Tray Touchpad Icon > Function tab > uncheck “Use Web Assistant”

Go n-éirí an bóthar leat

Hi Russell,

It is a small, grey, touchpad shaped icon (squarish) in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.

You can also get to the Mouse Properties through the Control Panel.

:wink:
