Installing Windows XP SP2 on Sony Vaio CR11Z/R

Hello,

Yesterday I bought myself a new laptop since I will need it for studies, problem is that during my studies we are obligated to have XP installed to make all software used during lessons work properly.
Anyway, when trying to install XP it just came to a stop saying Incorrect Function.
At first i thought my CD was damaged but after replacing it I came to a conclusion there was something else, as from what information I've gathered it seems the CD player isnt supported during install phase 2 and therefor the install can't read from it which makes the installation fail during the loadup causing errors.

Now i've been trying to find a solution for this but i've been unable to, maybe I need to import some drivers but I haven't found any guides/support for this problem anywhere on VAIO's support pages.

Therefor I turn tho this forum in need of help  My lessons start monday and I need everything ready by then.

And another problem, I do not own any usb floppys so if anyone can lend me a guide on how to make theese drivers fit onto the cd in anyway it would be great. I do not own any usb-cddrives either :(.

Thanks for your replies!

Hi Anders and welcome to Club Vaio.

There is a very good program called nLite - and it's free - and it does exactly what you want.

Have a look at this site and the tutorials on how to slipstream all your drivers (including the SATA driver that is giving you problems), Microsoft Updates etc. into your install disc.

You should find the necessary XP Drivers here: -
