File name change

Slight problem here I am afraid. I am writing a report which contains a number of pictures, drawings etc which were saved on a cd and in a file on my laptop.
When I try to open the files on the cd (which I need to send to someone for checking), all the pictures etc seemed to have changed their 'type' and cannot be opened. The files are now labelled as 'File' instead as (i think) jpegs etc as originally.
Has anyone any idea what has gone wrong and how I can rectify problem please.
Thanks,
Gyron

Also can you copy them from the cd and paste them somewhere else? If so try renaming them ending with .jpeg

Hi Jumpsuit,
Copied file from cd to folder on hard drive and renamed it 'image1.jpeg' - response from MS Photo editor was 'Can't determine type'
Thanks anyway,
Gyron

Hi Thalamus,
Good to hear from you again.
I am using standard MS cd burning supplied with XP Pro operating system.
The files don't seem to have an extension, they simply read Type:File.
Kind regards,
Gyron

Hi Gyron,

Have you tried using the Drag & drop burning software that came pre-installed on your Z1SP.?

This basic guide may be on interest.

Hi Thalamus,
Thanks for that, will give it a try.
Any idea though how I can change the filetype fom 'File' to something useful that wil open the 'image' already on the CD?
Thanks for continued help as usual.

Hi Gyron,

Perhaps it's not drag and drop installed on your Vaio.. [:">]

Check in Start > All programs, do you have any burning software installed..?

Just click on any windows explorer window>folder options> view> reset defaults then see if you can view the backup. If not then do as Thalmus and Jumpy says. At least you will have a generic file not some other setting. If all else fails try this program

X2Net Recent Documents: Never Lose Track of a File Again

An extension to Windows Explorer, X2Net Recent Documents keeps track of documents as you use them, much like the Recent Documents item on the Start Menu. Unlike the standard Windows Recent Documents offering however, X2Net Recent Documents provides the ability to subsequently find and open those documents in a whole host of useful ways. You can find documents by date (Today, Yesterday, Last Week etc.); by application (Word, Excel, Photoshop etc.); by type (music, pictures etc); and even by categories that you define yourself. Once installed, all this tracking and categorization happens completely automatically as you work with your documents. Screenshot and more info at:
