DVD not working Matshita UJ-840D

Any one have any ideas
notebook is VGN-FS315E, DVD player Matshita UJ-840D
I have not installed anything unusual office 2003, Zone alarm, AVG, Audio Conversion Studio
Are there known issues with this DVD player? It just seemed to stop working one day.

Are there any errors in Device Manager?

Start -> Right-click My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager

Expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives - Are there any yellow warnings against your drive? If so, double-click on it and find the error code.
