digital audio w/ wgn-fe31m

hi,

i'm trying to get a spdif signal out of my notebook.
i checked the box in the soundcard settings to enable spdif output and i got one of those plugs to use a headphonejack w/ a normal optical cable.
but there is no sound and i don't see the light at the end of the jack.

how do i make it work?

Both ends need to be digital, it's a digital signal not analog, this is why you're not getting any sound.
