Crackly sound vgn n21m/w

Hi I hope someone can help

i recntly have had a real bad case of crackly noise on my notebook.

i have tried the following over the past 5 days

deleted i-tunes
deleted sonic stage
tried a virus scan
tried a restore point through windows - but could only go back a week
unistalled and re-installed the realtek drivers
tried the sound mixer
plugged in speakers and got the same problem

Can someone help

Are you still running Vista? Or XP?Is cracking noticed always when there is audio output or only using specific software (WMP or Winamp etc.)? Anyway, try uninstalling the driver and cleaning the registry, then installing the driver again. Have you checked for updates here? http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/updates/updates.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&c=-1&s=-1&m=2532
There seems to be a driver update for your model.

thanks for the response - i will try when i get home

It is crackly all the time and i am running vista
