Sony KDL-55HX853 USB Recording

Hi

I have just purchased the above TV and have noticed that there is a USB record slot available on the rear .

I presumed that I could record programs from the sony freeview onto the usb memory stick and then be able to watch the programs back on my laptop at a later date.

However, I have been told that any programs recorded onto the USB memory can then only be played back on the TV.

Before I decide to purchase a suitable USB memory stick, does anyone know if it is possible to record programs onto the USB memory but also be able to play them back on my PC ???

Hi,

in short no you cant, i dont know about memory sticks but usb hdd has to be "registered" by the tv in order for it to work and in so doing renders it useless on any other device until you de register it.
