No picture & very loud volume

Our Bravia KDL37V5810 has suddenly lost its picture but still has a very loud volume.  It is not responding to the hand set.  Can anyone help please.

this is not an easy one to answer sitting here but may i suggest trying to change channels on the set itself, if things are still the same it certainly sounds like a tuner fault and will need a visit to a Sony repair centre if its still under warranty.

Many thanks.  It will not respond to handset or the switches on the set so I think it is a triip to the repairers.

Its warrenty ended May 1st.

I have exactly the same problem! The set seems to go into "standby" when switched on, but won't respond to either the remote or the on-set controls.

It "pops" every 10 minutes or so, and after several of these the volume comes on, but at a deafening level.

My only solution so far is to unplug it.

It's two years old tomorrow!
