kdl-40ex503 HDMI has sound but no picture

I have a KDL-40EX503 set which I am generally very pleased with.

However, quite often, when I switch to an HDMI input, I get the sound clearly but no picture.

I initially thought it was a problem with my Sony HT-is100 system which everything is routed through,

so I plugged my PS3 or Virgin V box directly into a separate HDMI input, but it does the same.

If I turn everything off at the mains and back on again, sometimes it all works but sometimes not.

Is there any settings in the menus that I should check?

Sounds like handshaking problem - such is the way of HDMI devices.

Is your TV on the latest firmware for that model.

Hi,

Yes, i checked the firmware version and it is the latest.

What I have found out is that the problem only happens if the TV is turned on from standby. (red light on front)

If the TV is turned off at the mains rather than put on standby, when I turn it on, it all works.

(I have a eco switch which turns everything off at the mains accept virginmedia box, to save electricity)

Any ideas?
