Yellow tint

Yellow tint

Anyone else have a yellow tint on their display?? I have it quite bad on the bottom of the display and both left and right hand edges of display running from top to bottom. Is it possible with a firmware update that this issue could be eliminated. J had read on one forum that ICS update SHOULD solve it. Something to do with the colour calibration. I have also heard that it could be to do with colour temperature of screen,  or the glue that was used to put display together.

Any advice would be gladly appreciated as this is ruining my experience with this device.

well try to find a way to forget it, stop looking at the yellow tint and stuff, you won't be staring at it while you're playing game or texting.

Other than that I think the battery life is amazing, a good camera...bla-bla-bla..there are so many good features packed into this phone and we know the problem it's having right now and let's just hope there's a solution coming soon

yeah I can see mine too, bottom of the screen and top right of the screen is visible all the time while edges of the screen on the left and right side are hard to notice at cold temperature

there won't be a solution for me since I am in the US and phone was purchased from HK and needs to be sent back. I have contacted Xperia US line and this is what they hav advised.

I'm sorry to hear that.

I don't think Sony would even listen to us at the moment but we all deserve an exchange/replacement for this.

putting the glue problem aside...BRAVIA Engine with yellow tint...is this some kind of their new idea now?

Writing this post n looking at the yellow tint. Great job sony.

We all know there is a problem. But do we know the solution

UK. Three network. London

I went to 3 store. At first salesman was not able to see the tint. I spend few minutes playing car racing games n he was convinved after knowing that this handset was ordered from internet but not from store.

He said it should be exchanged because its within 28 days of time period.

I called 3 support. First I spent 5 mins explaining what is mean by tint yellow screen. Then she said they they are not informed by Sony about this issue.

She said she has to send this handset for repair n if they find it is yellow tint there they may be able to exchange it if it is in within 28 days.

A joke that I have to send my new handset for repair within the first month of purchase.

I wanna know if on internet or anywhere Sony has acknowledged it or not. At least on their own website is there anything

I m just stuck with Sony. My bravia tele got issues my x10 had issues and now this.

A conpany,  which never learns of his mistakes.

I always against apple products like iphone etc etc but my friend had issur with phone. Went to apple store replaced within 10 mins. Did not asked anything about reciept or anything at all. Salesman took the phone and gave him a new boxed at the same time.

Shame sony. Older then apple but rubbish in dealing with customers

Apparently, this is how bad the yellow spots on the screen of Xperia S can be.

It could be worse or better than this depends on how unlucky or lucky you are.

I do not know whether this happens particularly to black xperia S only. Is there any issue with the white xperia S as well?

Paying hundreds of bucks for a new flagship phone like this is definately a terrible new phone experience.

Sony really has to look into this issue and provides a solid and quick solution soon for their xperia S users.

Ask the users to send in their new phones by themself to the service center and wait for weeks for the spare parts are not going to help.

Apparenty, screen replacement does not solve the problem. You can search for the comment of Djingga who has got the screen replacement about 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately the yellows spots problems resurface after that.

Please don't hesitate to give comment, especially Sony Mobile, I hope you have figured out what cause the problems already.

too bad i thought i can live with the yellow tint but its annnoying my HD screen... its little bit evident when im using the phone to much.... try to pen office org you will see also some dark spot. i received the same email with sony customer support... my question is how long will it take for the repair? 2-3 weeks will be so long. and take note its a new handset so spare parts maybe not yet availble... i have also a creaking sound problem in the home screen check this link

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35118

Hi Markus

Thanks for your suggestion. I spoke to Sony xperia support today.  And guess what they suggested to send this handset for repair. In fact this guy suggested 2 things.

1- to take up this issue with the sale point i.e 3 network support , which everyone on this earth knows it rubbish.

2- to book this handset with them for free repair.

Will u get a less then one month old handset to be repaired I guess not.

But anyways I booked it for repair just in case if no one is willing to exchange it.

Spoke to the network people, they say Sony has not sent any circular regarding this issue so they can not do anything else other than to book it for repair.

As u have seen post no. 188 above in this thread it says clearly that repairing can not solve this issue.

Now tell me what we all can do.

These smart phones have one good thing which is the screen and when u look at the screen you curse n regret why u have bought sony phone. I tried sticking with sony due to the elegance and this time its tint yellow elegance I can see everytime on the face of my phone whenever I use it. Shame.....  No other words

Its sony's fault to internally design the phone badly with possibly cheap screen why would we suffer.  We like every other phone user paid foe this phone. So we should have working phone.

I got my phone on 19 March and its still within 28 days of exchange policy. My fault is like everyone I got this on contract.

Dont know if u can help but if u can that would really be helpful.

Thanks

By the way.  This guy who booked my phone for repair from sony xperia support booked it as xperia arc. Which I found out when I got email with instructions how to post it.

I spend 25 mins talking to him about the phone regarding this issue and told him its xperia s and I just bought it and I asked him is he aware of the issue and he said yes. But still he booked my handset as xperia arc

Everyone just knows word sorry but they dont know what it means.

Apparently now I have to call back again and wait for 15 mins to talk to operator to correct this.

G t h Sony...
